Zone Conference is Always Fun!
So yep, we had Zone Conference this last Tuesday, and it was awesome! We got to meet President Child for the first time, and he's really cool! He just seems energetic and excited for everything, I'm really glad he's our mission president!
We also had a lesson with Andrew on Saturday! And he called in to church, so that kind of counted as him coming to church! He is super committed to getting baptized, but his life is a little crazy right now. If y'all could be praying for him that would by great!

As far as the actual conference went, it was really good! I won't tell you every little thing that happened, but President Child told a really cool story about his mission president who was in the Air Force. Around that time, they were trying to put radar into planes. So they ran a bunch of simulators and it worked super great! And then they put it in the plane and it just didn't work, the pilot had no idea where anything was. So they put it back in the simulators, and it still worked perfect! But it just would not work in the plane!
This Air Force guy was so puzzled as to why the radar wouldn't work in the plane when it worked so well in the simulator. He went out to the plane to check everything out, and that inspection took him to the back of the plane- where the magnet that directs thec radar was. Looking in this little compartment where the magnet was, he saw the magnet was shifting just a little bit to the side. Looking closer, he saw the compartment had used steel screws- just big enough to throw the radar off.
A lot of the time we think of the small and simple things (reading scriptures, praying, going to church, etc) that will point us to Christ. However, just as important to notice the small and simple things in our life that will turn us away from Christ. It's just as important to notice those and try too root them out before they move us too far away from Christ. So that was a really cool talk and lesson!
Disc Golf on the Lake in Lubbock |
In other news, we went disc golfing in the rain on Tuesday in Lubbock. Long story short, one of our disc golf buddies works in Lubbock. So we set it up to play with him after Zone Conference and it started absolutely pouring. Now, a Texas downpour usually lasts about five minutes and then the sun banishes every cloud within a five mile radius. But this one lasted 45 minutes of straight bucketing rain down, and then when it stopped bucketing it slowed down to a mild trickle for another two hours. So we played disc golf in a mild trickle, and it kinda sucked but it was still fun! That's where the picture of me standing over the lake and the turtle comes from. So that was exciting
We did service on Saturday! We helped a family clean out their workshop in the morning and helped another buff off some old paint in preparation for staining some wooden pillars they have in front of their house. It was great!
Y'all have a great week!
