110 in the Shade

July 13, 2020

OK, I dunno that it was ever THAT hot, but you get the idea. We have an app that tells us weather warnings, and every day this week it's been telling us there's a heat wave warning. It has gotten above 100 degrees every day for the last four or five days. Needless to say, I'm only a little glad we don't have to go outside every day in this heat 🤣

We had a really good lesson with Andrew last night! We taught him the Gospel of Jesus Christ lesson, and it went really well! He wasn't able to come to church on Sunday though, so he won't be able to keep his original baptism date for the 25th. But if he keeps progressing he'll get there one day!

We finally got to do some service! One of the members in our ward was moving across town to a house that was built in the 40's and hadn't been lived in for a few years. So we helped move some stuff and take out a bunch of bushes and trees in his front yard! It was super fun, and it was just great to do finally do some service!
Bunny we found when we were playing disc golf.
We also got a phone book from a member, and we're going to start doing cold calls to people! The other elders have been doing it and it's been *moderately* successful, so there's no reason it won't work for us, right?

... right?...

Anywho, that's kind of it. Just calling a bunch of people, trying to find. It's been an adventure ðŸ™‚

Spiritual thought comes from Elder Bednar from the Institute Student Manual (again!) Honestly, I wish I knew this thing existed years ago, it's amazing! Anyway, here's the quote!

“Just as Lehi was blessed in ancient times, each of us in this day has been given a spiritual compass that can direct and instruct us during our mortal journey. The Holy Ghost was conferred upon you and me as we came out of the world and into the Savior’s Church through baptism and confirmation. By the authority of the holy priesthood we were confirmed as members of the Church and admonished to seek for the constant companionship of ‘the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you’ (John 14:17).“As we each press forward along the pathway of life, we receive direction from the Holy Ghost just as Lehi was directed through the Liahona. ‘For behold, again I say unto you that if ye will enter in by the way, and receive the Holy Ghost, it will show unto you all things what ye should do’ (2 Nephi 32:5).“The Holy Ghost operates in our lives precisely as the Liahona did for Lehi and his family, according to our faith and diligence and heed” (in Conference Report, Apr. 2006, 31; or Ensign, May 2006, 30–31).

So good! Just a great reminder that the Holy Ghost will help guide us in life, no matter what we need help with!

All right, thanks for reading to the end! Y'all have a great week!
