Pension Lockdown
So we just received word from President Camejo- we're on lockdown in our pension (apartment) until the end of March. We can leave the pension if we absolutely need to buy food or if we have a baptism. Which is crazy...
Anywho, this email is going to be kinda long because a lot happened this week. First, we start on Thursday, but not for the reason you guys are thinking of.
Maite is getting baptized!!!!! Her parents are finally letting her get baptized, which is so wonderful! Also her parents basically recommitted to getting active again, it was such a wonderful visit. The Spirit was so strong, it was one of the greatest moments in my mission.
And then LITERALLY an hour later we called President to ask if we could do the baptism of Maite like we did with Valeria, and he told us that the Church had just shut down sacrament meetings in the whole world, and he had no idea how baptisms were going to go. So that's when all the crazy started.
Friday was crazy because we literally had no idea what was going on. And then we went to go visit a member and found out how everything was exploding in the US. And then we found out that for now we could do baptisms if there are 10 people or less in the service. And so we were excited that we could still baptize Maite and Rosa.
Saturday we had the baptismal interview with Rosa and she passed, so we're baptizing her next week! And then we helped a family move in the area of the Elders from Ciudadela, so that was fun.
Sunday we went to Familia BaraƱado's house for the sacrament, and it was really so beautiful. I have SUCH a testimony of the prophets now, especially President Nelson. When he gave us Come, Follow Me, he definitely saw that we would not only need to be a home centered, chapel supported church, but now we need to be able to survive as a literal home church.
Also, we were thinking a lot about how the Sacrament is a saving ordinance, and so the Sacrament room is literally an ordinance room like the Sealing rooms in the temple. But now, the Sacrament rooms are in our own homes. We need to be preparing our homes and doing the sort of things that invite the Spirit into our homes. That's a really beautiful thing, and I hope that all of you are making those changes so you can help your home be more like the temple :)
And also we did the baptismal interview for Maite, and she passed, so we're going to be baptizing her on the 28th of March.
Yesterday we had to go to the Anonima to buy a lot of groceries in case we needed to go on lockdown. And so now we need to go on lockdown, we're glad we bought all that food. We kinda figured this would be happening for a while, but now it's here.
I think I'll be able to leave next week to write everyone. But please keep the missionaries in your prayers, they need all the help they can get. Keep the leaders of the church in your prayers as well, they need all the blessings they can get too. Hopefully we'll be safe down here. Also, if you want to stay updated, there's a Facebook page titled Mission Argentina Comodoro Rivadavia 2019-2022, so that's probably how you guys will get to know of how I'm doing down here.
I love you guys! The work still moves forward, and I have seen that here. And hopefully we can baptize Maite and Rosa, we'll see how that goes.
